Localisation

Localisation is an operation even more specific than translation.

Those who translate transform the text from one language to another, whereas those who localise the text adapt it to a specific context, based on their knowledge of the jargon, culture, conventions in the target country or perhaps even more circumscribed territory.

The localiser must assess all aspects that may assume different connotations in different countries: images, colours, symbols, regulations, date and time formats, digits, acronyms, measurements, currencies, names, titles, telephone numbers, addresses, post codes and so on.
This is particularly important on the web, where localisation may increase the effectiveness of translated website contents or digital campaigns aimed at a foreign target.

How much does a localisation service cost?

Since multiple steps are involved, localisation has a higher cost than translation. On the other hand, the search for terms in the target language perfectly tailored to a specific context also guarantees a more effective service. In addition, your brand-specific glossary will be enriched with terms and expressions tailored to your audience, while also increasing your chances of meeting sales targets.

Localisers selected for the target market

Our professionals are able to effectively identify the most appropriate terms for the context, geographic area and target. In addition to their in-depth studies and experience, their distinguishing feature is the fact that they live in the country where the translation is directed. They therefore work in their native language and witness its evolution in real time. It is entirely normal for a foreign translator’s vocabulary to lose some of its edge after many years living in Italy. This is precisely one of the reasons we prefer to work with translators based abroad.
